Upcoming Initiatives
In Washington State, we are fortunate to have a means of direct democracy called the initiative process. Through this process, citizens can present their own legislation for a direct vote by the people. To become law, an initiative must first get on the ballot, which requires that the legislation be legally sound and that a minimum amount of support be shown with the gathering of signatures. The number of signatures required is 8% of the voter turnout of most recent governor’s race (currently 259,622).
